I don't see ever-lasting friendship between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan: Salim Khan
Salim Khan says that while he is proud of his son, he doesn't see ever-lasting friendship between Salman and SRK.
So the question everyone’s asking after the Salman Khan-Shah Rukh Khan’s handshake-and-hug is whether this means they will go back to being friends. Will SRK be at parties at Galaxy? Will Salman drop in at Mannat? Salman’s dad Salim Khan, who was present on Sunday evening at the iftaar party when his son Salman greeted SRK, says he’s proud of his son for making the first move, “I am happy that my son has taken the initiative. It was a sensible thing to do and a much-needed gesture and Shah Rukh reciprocated.”
When asked if the hug would thaw the strained relations between the two warring Khans, he says, “Please don’t give so much importance to it. There are disagreements between miyaan-biwi,neighbours, society and so many other individuals. They (Salman and Shah Rukh) are actors and rivals. Inke problems hote hain aur solve bhi ho jaate hain. I have always maintained that there can never be any love between any two big stars, only courtesy. It is not possible for big stars to love each other. Even stars like Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Dilip Kumar were just courteous to each other. Salman and Shah Rukh must have decided to be mature and courteous and that is something that must be maintained.”
Khan feels the so-called patch-up got unnecessary media attention. “Just because they patched up it’s not as if the country’s problems will get solved, no? They hugged each other lekin isse Uttarakhand mein jo ho raha hai, yaKashmir mein, those problems won’t get solved. Kaande ka bhav toh nahi girega na? The disagreements between stars are not national problems as the media is making it out to be.
It (the Salman-SRK fight) involves an issue between two people and there can be many reasons for that. I have been married to my wife for 50 years and to Helen for 30 years. Even we have problems, but that’s natural, lekin hum log apne galti maanke, we move ahead. If my son and Shah Rukh have done that, it’s a good thing.”
Senior Khan doesn’t want to dwell on why-the-patch-up-happened-now, “They both are self-respecting people. They must have decided to put aside their ego instead of thinking about what hurt them. Maybe they felt foolish behaving in a childish manner and instead decided to behave like mature adults on that day. Media should be talking on much more important issues than this.”
Khan adds that whenever SRK has met him in the last few years, he has always greeted him respectfully, despite his problems with his son, “We are all civilised people and Shah Rukh has always treated me with civility and respect whenever we have met. I am his senior and he has given me that respect. That’s our culture. I met him at the Donpremiere... My other children talk to him. Javed (Akhtar) and I stopped being partners years ago but we are fighting for the rights of Zanjeer together. In the world there is no substitute for love and peace.”
Salman Khan: man of the moment
Salman Khan, one of the most bankable actors in Bollywood, has been charged under culpable homicide (not amounting to murder) in the 2002 hit and run case. If Salman Khan follows in Sanjay Dutt’s footsteps and ends up in jail, his fans will not be alone in lamenting the development –
several film producers will also join in. Take a look at the actor’s long list of upcoming projects and you will know why.
Bigg Boss 7 on Colors TV
Salman Khan hosts one of the biggest reality TV shows in the country and the promos for Bigg Boss 7 are being shot. If Salman is found guilty and sent behind bars before the season starts (or ends, which will be around December), Colors TV channel and the show will find it really difficult to find someone to fill in Khan’s shoes. And the TRPs certainly won’t be the same with a different host.
Mental
Salman’s Mental (the title is expected to be changed) is currently under production. The Sohail Khan directorial venture will be Salman’s first release after Dabangg 2 (we can definitely forget his cameo in Ishqq In Paris). The movie also stars Bollywood debutantes Daisy Shah and Sana Khan.
Kick
Starring Jacqueline Fernandes and Salman Khan, the Sajid Nadiadwala film is set to go on floors by July end.
No Entry Mein Entry
According to reports, Salman Khan’s legal and medical troubles have already delayed this Anees Bazmi directorial venture. The shooting was scheduled to begin in June. However, it has been postponed to late July. Boney Kapoor, who will produce the sequel to 2000 comedy No Entry, was more than willing to wait for Salman and told HT earlier this year, “Once Salman's health and his other issues are sorted, he will be far more relaxed."
Prabhudeva’s untitled next
Prabhudeva’s plans to make an action movie with Salman Khan (this will be their second venture together after Wanted). Prabhudeva said recently that the script has not been finalised yet.
Sooraj Barjatya’s untitled next
Salman Khan was set to reunite with Sooraj Barjatya after 14 years. The Rajshri Films production film was to go on floors in October 2013. Will the two croon in unison - Hum Saath Saath Hain?
O Teri
Salman Khan has a cameo in brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s O Teri. Since this one has a cameo by Khan, Agnihotri may not be regretting much (in terms of finances) if the actor is sent to jail. O Teri stars Pulkit Samrat and Sarah Jane Dias in the lead.
Projects in inception phase
Apart from the under-production or pre-production projects, Salman Khan also has a few movies that are in planning stage.
YRF’s next
Reports suggest that once Mental and Kick are completed, Salman is likely to begin discussions with Yash Raj Films for their second film together (after Ek Tha Tiger).
Remake of Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho
Salman Khan was speculating the Hindi remake of Mahesh Manjrekar's Marathi film Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho. Reports suggested that Khan also planned to produce the film under his Being Human Productions banner but no official announcement has been made as yet.
I Am Hariprasad
Director Prem R Soni (debut Main Aur Mrs Iyyer) had announced I Am Hariprasad with Salman Khan three years ago (Aug 2010). The film was scheduled to release this year but it is yet to see the light of day. Salman Khan is said to play a godman in the film.
Khan’s legal troubles
Salman Khan has been charged under Section 304(2) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) in the 2002 hit and run case. He has also been charged under sections 279 (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by an act), 338 (causing grievous hurt), 427 (causing damage or mischief to property) of IPC, and provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and Bombay Prohibition Act.
The next hearing of the case will be held at a different court on August 19.
Avinash Kumar Singh, Advocate, Delhi High Court said, “If found guilty, the actor may get his sentencing reduced by paying hefty compensation.” The punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder is upto ten years of imprisonment and/or fine.
One person was killed and four others injured when a Toyota Land Cruiser, allegedly driven by Salman, crushed a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002.
If convicted Salman Khan would become the second high-profile actor to go to jail after Sanjay Dutt this year, who is lodged in Yerwada jail, serving the remaining three-and-half years of his five-year jail term in the illegal arms case related to the Mumbai blasts.
I don't want to talk about Salman hug: Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan today chose not to comment on the much hyped hug with Salman Khan at a recent 'iftaar' party.
The hug between the two superstars led everyone to believe that the two warring Khans have become friends again but SRK ducked questions on the issue triggering media persons to pose more queries following which he went into the "no comment" mode.
"Whether its my relationship, friendship or any other personal aspect I have never dignified it by talking about it in public. I like to keep it like this. With due respect people have already analysed the whole situation. So much has been said and written about it. I don't want to give any explanation or talk about it," Shah Rukh told reporters here at an event.
The two actors turned foes after a spat at Katrina Kaif's birthday party in 2008. Since then both have always avoided each other in public.
When asked to comment on charges being framed against actor Salman Khan today for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-and-run case, Shah Rukh said, "I don't know about this so I can't comment on it."
It was Salman who patted SRK on his shoulder and later hugged his "Karan-Arjun" co-star at an 'iftaar' party.

Anil hopes Salman does not have to serve jail term
Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor today hoped his superstar-friend Salman Khan, charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-and-run case, does not have to serve long years in jail.
If convicted of culpable homicide, the 47-year-old star faces up to 10 years in jail.
"It is a court matter so it is not fair to speculate on things. But I hope nothing like (10 years in jail) happens. My heart says nothing will happen," Kapoor said at an event here when asked to give his reaction on the charges framed against Salman by a local court earlier in the day.
Kapoor and Salman have shared screen space in films like 'Deewana Mastana', 'Biwi No.1', 'No Entry', 'Salam-E-Ishq', 'Yuvraj' and 'Wanted'.
